Patient Care Coordinator, Easton MD

$18 to $22 per hour | Full- or part-time | Great Place to Work Certified 2025 and 2026

You are the first person our patients see, and often the one they remember. Aquacare and Fitness Forum Physical Therapy is hiring a Patient Care Coordinator. This is the front desk role, sometimes called a medical receptionist, and at a physical therapy practice it is a bigger job than the title suggests.

What this job actually is

People do not come to physical therapy because they are having a good week. They arrive in pain, frustrated with their insurance, worried about the cost, and sometimes embarrassed about needing help. You are the person who takes that on at the door.

Because a course of physical therapy runs weeks or months, you will see the same patients two or three times a week. You will learn their names, their grandkids' names, and which ones need the eight o'clock slot because of a ride. That relationship is most of the job, and it is why we are particular about this hire.

The job, specifically

  • $18 to $22 per hour, regular, full-time hours
  • Schedule: Plan on weekdays, out by 7pm at the latest
  • You work with a team of 6-8 therapists, plus support staff
  • Medical, dental, and vision insurance
  • 401(k) with 4% match
  • PTO starts your first day, growing with tenure, plus 6 paid holidays

What you will do

  • Greet every patient who comes through the door and make the place feel calm
  • Schedule and reschedule appointments, and keep the therapists' days running on time
  • Check patients in, collect copays, reconcile daily postings, and handle intake paperwork and outcome measures
  • Answer the phone, explain benefits in plain language, and know when to hand a question to a therapist or billing
  • Keep the reception area in good order and complete daily reports and follow-ups accurately

The Ability to Multitask is a Must!

Who this is right for

Someone who is genuinely steady with people. You can hold a calm voice with a patient who is upset about a bill while a phone is ringing and a therapist needs a schedule change. You notice details, you write things down, and you follow through.

What you need

Required: high school diploma or equivalent, comfort with computers and scheduling software, and the ability to keep patient information confidential.

Helpful but not required: experience in a physical therapy, medical, or dental office, familiarity with insurance verification and copays, healthcare terminology, and Microsoft Office or Google Sheets.

No medical office experience? We train.

Where this can go

The front desk is the best view of how a healthcare practice actually works, and we promote from within.

  • Cross-training into insurance verification, authorizations, and billing
  • Lead or senior coordinator roles across our 12 clinics in Maryland and Delaware
  • Clinic operations and scheduling management
  • Tuition and certification support if you decide to move toward a clinical path such as PTA school

Why people stay

We have been physical-therapist-owned for 27+ years, and we are Great Place to Work Certified in both 2025 and 2026. Those certifications come from anonymous surveys of our own team. In the most recent one:

  • 96% say new people are made to feel welcome
  • 95% say people here care about each other
  • 93% say they can be themselves at work
  • 91% say they can take time off when they need it

Physical requirements

Extended periods of sitting and computer work, with regular standing and moving around the clinic. Occasional lifting up to 15 pounds.
